42nd Hong Kong Arts Festival 2014 officially started on Feb. 18

IMG_0252The 42nd Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) officially started on Feb. 18 with an opening ceremony at the hall of Hong Kong Cultural Centre where special guests including Chief Executive C Y Leung, Chairman of HKAF Ronald Arculli, Chairman of Hong Kong Jockey Club Brian Stevenson and Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited Peter Wong participated.

During the ceremony, Guerzenich Orchestra Cologne from Germany under the baton of Markus Stenz did the opening orchestra performance. More than 98,000 tickets have been sold before the official opening, reaching 85% of total sales. More thickets are available during festival period.IMG_0243

HKAF all together have 138 performances, with two of them free of charge. In addition, two hundred and twenty two PLUS events and 81 activities are launched, including 21 world premieres as well as 16 Asian premieres.
