At Baselworld 2014, renowned Swiss watch brand, Longines, presented some of their new watches to the world. For many years, Longines has been passionate about equestrian sports, and as we know, this year is the year of the horse. To celebrate the year of the horse, the brand has created the Longines Equestrian Lépine.

The rose gold pocket watch is a re-issue of the brands earlier metal pocket watch dating back to 1927 which is currently on display in the Longines Museum, in Saint-Imier. From the name, Longines Equestrian Lépine, you can tell that the timepiece pays tribute to the noble animal which has fascinated many since ancient times. The back cover of the watch is decorated with a horse in mid jump, showing a majestic side of the beautiful animal!

The watch has a diameter of 49.50mm, and is fitted with a manually wound L506 calibre showing the hours and minutes. Located at the 6 o’clock area, there is a small seconds display. The large black painted Arabic numerals are complimented by the smaller ‘minute-ring’ with red numerals, creating a simple yet elegant design, fitting for this timeless piece.
