Chef Furuyama Masami, new Japanese native Suchi Chief Chef of Nadaman Japanese restaurant in Kowloon Shangri-La, is proud to present a new innovative Feng Shui Fortune Sushi. Like the name suggests, the new addition is heavily inspired by Chinese Feng Shui and Taoism which was introduced to Japan.

The fundamentals of Japanese Feng Shui is built on the philosophy of Yin, yang, and the 5 major elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water) which can have complementing and contradicting effects to one another. The key is to maintain a balance, to create an optimal mental and physical health.

A crucial and influential Japanese culinary culture also includes 5 elements, go-mi (5 flavors), go-shoku (5 colors), go-kan (5 senses) and many more. In authentic, healthy Japanese meals, the elements are all balanced to create a balanced and harmonious meal.

Combining these ideas together, the Feng Shui Fortune Sushi Sets are all balanced with 5 colors, each representing a different element. The Feng Shui Fortune Roll has Shima-aji mackerel which is green in color representing wood, Fire is represented by Maguro Tuna whilst Egg represents earth. The Hirame Flounder which is white in color represents metal and the aromatic seaweed and caviar which is black represents water.

Chef Furuyama also presents the TaiChi Chirashi Sushi Bowl which, like the name suggests, is heavily influenced by Tai Chi. Each bowl is beautifully presented in the shape of the Yin Yang symbol in Tai Chi created from Maguro Tuna, White Fish, Salmon and Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp).
