Celebrating the importance of T’ang Haywen, de Sarthe gallery proudly presents The Colours of Ink, Solo Exhibition of Chinese Painter T’ang Haywen. T’ang Haywen never received any formal training in arts; his works expresses a dynamic energy that is not restricted by the guidelines and rules of traditional art. The exhibition will run until Oct 18th, 2014, bringing together many unique and rare pieces for both local and international audiences to appreciate.

Combining his Eastern heritage with the Western elements he has adopted, T’ang’s work revolutionized the cultural boundaries, creating new techniques and ideals that transformed modern ink. The Colours of Ink exhibition leads you through the T’ang’s work and his exploration in imbuing new elements into the rich history and traditions of Chinese ink.

Many of the pieces presented in the exhibition are painted on Kyro cards. Different from traditional canvas and paper, the Kyro cards absorbs the ink in different layers creating a unique finish that fully captures the movement and moment of which the works were created.
